Premier League and PFA

The Foundation is supported by the Premier League and Professional Footballer's Association.

Administered through the Premier League Foundation, the funding helps football clubs to tackle inequality and respond to local challenges, supporting people and their communities to be more inclusive.

This season, 24 professional football club community organisations across the Premier League and English Football League are delivering projects supported by the Premier League and PFA in their local communities.

These funded projects have engaged more than 230,000 unique participants in more than 330,000 sessions across England and Wales. Projects are supported by current and former professional football players, and scholars, to enhance the impact on participants.

Foundation - PL Programmes - PL Inspires Image

Premier League Inspires

Premier League Inspires is a personal development programme, funded by the Premier League and Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) through the Premier League Foundation.

The programme uses the power of football to inspire young people aged 11-to-18 to develop the personal skills and positive attitudes needed to succeed in life. It is predominantly delivered in secondary schools. Premier League Inspires empowers participants to develop personal, social, employability and life skills, through a series of regular face-to-face group sessions, mentoring, workshops and social-action projects, providing pupils with the help they need now and supporting them to plan for their future.

Manchester United Foundation began its Premier League Inspires delivery in 2019and since then has supported 2,392young people through 2,534sessions in 37local schools. There has been 81 cohorts with 520 young people engaged in social action and 312 qualifications achieved.

This season, 45 professional football club community organisations across the Premier League and English Football League are delivering Premier League Inspires sessions at their stadiums, in local schools and at alternative educational settings. More than 29,000 young people from across England and Wales have received more than 125,000 hours of targeted.

Premier League Kicks

Funded by the Premier League through the Premier League Foundation, Premier League Kicks uses the power of football and sport to inspire young people to reach their potential in some of the most high-need areas in England and Wales.

Launched in season 2006/07, in partnership with the Metropolitan Police, today Manchester United Foundation is one of 93 professional football club community organisations across England and Wales delivering Premier League Kicks. The programme supports young people in regular, positive and fun activity, while helping to create stronger, safer, more inclusive communities.

Nationally, more than half a million young people have participated in Premier League Kicks football and multi-sport sessions across England and Wales, and more than one million hours of sessions have been delivered to date.

Premier League Primary Stars

The Premier League's primary school education programme. Funded by the Premier League through the Premier League Foundation, the programme uses the appeal of football to help children be active and develop essential life skills.

Launched in 2017, and available to every primary school in England and Wales, Manchester United Foundation is one of more than 100 professional football club community organisations across England and Wales delivering Premier League Primary Stars, supporting pupils in the classroom, the playground and on the sports field. More than 18 million children have benefited from the national programme to date. Premier League Primary Stars enables teachers to use resources across English, PSHE, PE and Maths, to support children to develop skills and values that are crucial to success in later life.

Manchester United Foundation began its Premier League Primary Stars delivery in 2017 and since then has supported over 20,000 young people through 27,500 sessions in over 60 schools.

The free programme also provides teachers and parents with access to more than 650 downloadable resources across a range of curriculum subjects at Key Stage 1 (age 5-7) and Key Stage 2 (age 7-11), developed by teachers for teachers, and in collaboration with experts such as the National Literacy Trust.
