Partner High Schools

Manchester United Foundation works with partner high schools in areas of the highest social deprivation, including across Greater Manchester and in outreach areas of Carlisle, Derry/Londonderry and London.

The Foundation has a full-time school partnership officer based in more than 30 high schools across Manchester and beyond, supporting the development of young people alongside their school education.

In each of these schools, pupils are engaged, inspired and empowered to make a better start in life and to make more positive life choices. The school partnership officer is permanently based in every single one of our partner high schools from Monday to Friday during school term-times.

The work of the school partnership officer includes helping students to succeed with a range of interventions, which vary from school to school, but can include some of the following: mentoring; wellbeing programmes; qualifications and skills programmes; work and volunteering opportunities, and matchday enrichment.

Primary Reds

Our Primary Reds programme aims to develop and improve the wellbeing and life skills of children aged 5-11. Working alongside the Premier League Primary Stars programme and in line with the national curriculum, the Foundation addresses physical literacy, healthy lifestyles, and the broader curriculum.

We aim to develop a holistic approach both in and outside the classroom, using high-quality teaching materials that cover English, Maths, PE and PSHE as well as working with teaching staff to support the delivery of physical education (PE) in the school.

Partner SEND schools

Manchester United Foundation delivers a wide-ranging inclusion programme which includes working in eight partner schools that specialise in working with young people living with special educational needs and disabilities [SEND]. These encompass primary schools, high schools and colleges.

The Foundation operates on a child-centred, place-based approach, ensuring a sustained and long-term impact on the young people we serve. Inclusion is at the heart of all of our work, including across our partner SEND schools, which forms part of our aim to involve more disabled young people in sport across Greater Manchester.

A full-time delivery officer is employed by Manchester United Foundation to work in each of our partner SEND schools during school term-times, providing unique educational and enrichment opportunities to school pupils, while working towards jointly agreed objectives.

To achieve our aims, we provide young people with opportunities to participate, support and volunteer in physical activity. Our main focus is centred around fun and inclusivity.
